Any small tub with a drainage basket, or you can stack two cups together with holes in the inner cup, will work for teaching a new scent.

Cloves are a great option for scentwork as the strength is easy to manage and they are easy to obtain. These ones can be delivered or you can try your local supermarket

Objects with holes or vents that are strong enough to protect the contents and not too small are good for hiding in the open. These salt pots are tough and easy to use and hide.

Small flat tins used for target training in scentwork that can also be hidden. Small holes protect dogs from ingesting the scent object/soak. Leave in the barrier sheet for added difficulty.

Using something like this makes it easier to protect the scent item (cloves) from being ingested and makes the cloves easier to handle.

With a flip up lid that reveals shaker holes, these mini salt and pepper containers are great for small hiding places. The holes let the scent out whilst protecting the contents.

Worm or bait tubs for fishing are great for scent discrimination games as they seal tightly to protect the scented item and are already vented.

These are cheap and easy to get hold of and can easily be vented by creating a small hole in the lid or just popping up one corner for box searches.

For the very smallest hiding places. Place a small fabric soak inside one of these and tuck it into a small gap for more experienced dogs. Loosen the lid or poke a hole in it to use.
